We are saddened to learn of the passing of former OC San Board Member and Chairperson Jim Ferryman, who passed away on September 5, 2026.

Jim served on Costa Mesa Sanitary District’s Board of Directors for more than 30 years and on OC San’s Board of Directors for 24 years, including as OC San Board Chairperson from 2006 to 2008.

Jim was instrumental to the success of several OC San efforts, including creating and commissioning the Groundwater Replenishment System, supporting OC San’s transition to secondary treatment, helping OC San transfer 150+ miles of local sewer pipes in unincorporated areas of Orange County to the East Orange County Water District, and leading the Board of Directors to adopt a resolution accepting urban runoff. In recognition of these achievements, Jim received an Honor Walk Brick in 2023.

Jim’s commitment to public service will continue to make a lasting impact for years to come. Our deepest sympathies to his loved ones.
