OC San’s award-winning Wastewater 101 Citizens’ Academy is receiving national recognition as a featured story in the latest issue of Municipal Water Leader Magazine. The article highlights how our Citizens’ Academy helps community members better understand the wastewater treatment process, OC San’s role in protecting public health and the environment, and the essential services that support approximately 2.6 million residents throughout our service area.

Launched to increase public awareness and transparency, the Wastewater 101 Citizens’ Academy is a free educational program that combines virtual presentations with an optional facility tour. Participants learn about wastewater collection and treatment, water recycling, environmental stewardship, and career opportunities within the industry. The Municipal Water Leader feature showcases the program’s success in engaging the community and inspiring greater appreciation for the important work performed by wastewater professionals every day.
