July is Flush Smart Month, a reminder that toilets are only designed to flush the 3 P’s: pee, poop, and toilet paper. Items such as wipes, paper towels, tissues, dental floss, and other household products don’t break down like toilet paper and can cause clogs in home plumbing and the sewer system.

Even products labeled “flushable” can create problems once they enter the wastewater system. By remembering the 3 P’s and placing all other items in the trash, everyone can help keep wastewater flowing properly and protect our community’s infrastructure!
