The Orange County chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) awarded OC San and the Orange County Water District (OCWD) with the Project of the Year award and the Outstanding Wastewater Treatment Project of the Year for the final completion of the Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS).

A joint project between OC San and OCWD, the GWRS was recognized for the completion of its final expansion, which recycles 100 percent of OC San’s reclaimable wastewater flows and produces 130 million gallons of water a day (MGD), enough to serve nearly one million people.

In addition, the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) awarded OC San with the first place for the Community Engagement and Outreach: Project of the Year – Large, for our partnership with the Heritage Museum of Orange County. This partnership allows OC San to deliver messaging on What 2 Flush to 4,500 visitors per school year thus expanding our reach.
