Construction Update:

Virginia Avenue to Lincoln Avenue

Construction continues in this area with removal of shoring, connection of laterals to the main sewer pipe, and median restoration.

  • Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Traffic impacts consist of lane reductions and left turn restrictions.
  • See NOTICE for details.

Lincoln Avenue to Underhill Avenue – Day and Nightwork

To expedite work in this area crews will be working both during the day and at night. This will allow two necessary parts of the project to be completed simultaneously rather than us returning later. Daytime crews will perform pipe installation while nighttime crews focus on installing the shoring system – shoring is required to secure the excavation area. This activity will restrict left turns, as such it being performed at night to minimize impact. This includes work in the Lincoln Avenue intersection.

  • Ongoing – November 2020*
  • Monday – Friday, 8:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Left turn restriction at Lincoln Avenue intersection from 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Lane reductions.
  • See NOTICE for details

Sycamore Plaza / McDonald’s and La Palma Intersections

To complete sewer installation across the La Palma Avenue, and to connect the local sewer line to the regional sewer line, additional work is required. Bypass system will be set up restricting left turns at the La Palma Ave. intersection and the entrance to the Sycamore Plaza and McDonalds. Work will NOT occur at both intersections simultaneously.

  • Ongoing – November 2020*
  • Monday – Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • Left turn restrictions, U-Turns can be made at the next intersection.

E. South Street Detour – intermittent

A temporary detour restricting westbound traffic on E. South Street from State College Blvd. to Sunkist St. will be in place to complete construction of a lateral connection to connect the City of Anaheim local sewer to the newly installed OCSD regional sewer line. Only local traffic will be allowed on E. South Street.

  • Ongoing – November 2020*
  • Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Detour route is in place to bypass the restricted area.
  • See MAP for detour details.

Vermont Avenue to Virginia Avenue

Pipe installation in this area is now complete. Crews are focusing connecting laterals, median and street restoration.

  • Ongoing – Fall 2020*
  • Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As construction moves along State College Blvd. temporary left-hand turn restrictions will be implemented as necessary in the intersections where active work is being performed.  We ask that you use caution in traffic zones and encourage you to use alternate routes and allow extra time to reach your destination.

*Dates are subject to change due to operational factors or inclement weather.

Project Description:

The project is replacing four miles of sewer along State College Boulevard from the SR-91 to Orangewood Avenue in the City of Anaheim. Construction began in late summer 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2021.  Once the project is complete, eight million gallons of wastewater will be diverted to OCSD’s Plant No. 1 in Fountain Valley for treatment before being sent to the Groundwater Replenishment System.   This is Phase B of a two-phase project; Phase A was completed in 2017 and took place from Yorba Linda Blvd. to SR-91 in the City of Fullerton
