State College Sewer Construction

construction alert header

As the year winds down, construction on State College Blvd. is ramping up. Crews are currently working around the clock at State College and Gene Autry Way to complete the sewer installation across the intersection as quickly as possible. We understand that construction can be an inconvenience, so we are trying to move through some of the most complex or busy areas as fast as we can.  Here’s a summary of the upcoming work:

Gateway and State College Blvd.

  • January 21 – January 25 – 24/7 work
  • Crews will be working around the clock to complete the sewer installation across Gateway as quickly as possible.
  • Please see notice for further details.

Orangewood Avenue intersection:

  • January 7, 2019 – March 2019
  • Nighttime work: weekdays 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Continuous weekend work will also occur on select weekends. Traffic control will remain in place from Friday 8 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m.

Work at the intersection is extremely complex, this is the area where the 4-mile sewer replacement ends and where connections to other major trunk lines occur. Due to the nature of the work which requires multiple lane closures on both State College and Orangewood, as well as the very busy intersection, work in this area needs to occur at night. Please see alert for further details.

Work is also occurring, or slated to begin shortly after the New Year at the following locations on State College Blvd.:

Cerritos to Ball:

  • Sewer replacement via open-cut
  • December 2018– February 2019
  • Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Multiple crews are necessary to expedite construction and complete the sewer replacement as quickly as possible. We are making every effort to minimize impact to the community. We appreciate everybody’s support and thank you for your patience as we work to replace this very important utility.

**Due to the nature of the work, and the desire to complete the work as soon as possible, the sewer replacement at the major intersections will take place at different times, details to follow as construction progresses.

We understand construction can be an inconvenience we apologize in advance and appreciate your patience as we work to improve our infrastructure.

*Dates are subject to change due to operational factors or inclement weather.

Project Description:
The project is replacing four miles of sewer along State College Boulevard from the SR-91 to Orangewood Avenue in the City of Anaheim. Construction began in summer 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in late 2020.  Once the project is complete, eight million gallons of wastewater will be diverted to OCSD’s Plant No. 1 in Fountain Valley for treatment before being send to the Groundwater Replenishment System.  This is Phase B of a two-phase project; Phase A was completed in 2017 and took place from Yorba Linda Blvd. to SR-91 in the City of Fullerton.
