The California Water Environment Association (CWEA) has announced their 2021-2022 awards that recognize those who are making waves in the wastewater industry. OC San has proudly placed among the top spots.

As an active participant, OC San competes with other Regional Wastewater Treatment Facilities and this year, OC San was recognized for two major awards!

  1. Safety Plant of The YearWith safety being an OC San core value, there is no compromise of any individual’s well-being in anything we do. This award is a testament to OC San’s safety practices and management of each employee’s commitment and dedication to protecting public health and the environment.
  2. Operator of the Year- Anthony Chang

As a recently promoted Operations Supervisor at Plant No. 1 in Fountain Valley, Anthony sets the bar high for his team and always leads by example. He recently took the lead in helping bring together a team to improve OC San’s total biosolids percentage by utilizing the dewatering process.  Operations, maintenance, and process engineering worked closely together to meet and exceed the agency’s target biosolids percentage for Plant No. 1.  Anthony was also instrumental in supporting construction planning project meetings to achieve great results during construction thus facilitating the operations process later. . Anthony’s professional approach to leadership, problem solving, and teaching staff is greatly appreciated.

This award was no easy feat, Anthony first won the Santa Ana River Basic Section Operator of the year, which is the regional level which allowed him to compete at the state level. This accomplishment was a long journey, one he shared with some of the best operators in the state. We are very proud of Anthony and the leadership and example he brings to OC San.
