The Draft Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Headworks Rehabilitation Project at Plant No. 1 is now available for public review.

The headworks facilities at OCSD’s Plant No. 1 include Headworks No. 1 which was built and modified in the 1950s and 1960s and is currently out of service; and Headworks No. 2 which began operation in 1989.

The proposed project is intended to extend the useful life of Headworks No. 2, as well as increase the influent pumping capacity so that Headworks No. 1 can be demolished. The proposed project would not change the existing total capacity of the headworks facilities at Plant No. 1 (i.e., 320 million gallons per day [mgd]).

The public comment period for the draft IS/MND is open through May 26.
