2023.12.06 Setting Beams at AP3

 December 2023 – Beams are being installed for an excavation pit located on Airway Avenue.  

Current Work

Work is currently taking place on Airway Avenue between Baker Street and McCormick Avenue.  Sewer rehabilitation will take place on the first of two regional sewer pipelines, or force mains.  The contractor is working on excavating access pits down to the existing sewer pipeline.  The pits are several hundred feet apart.  K-rail has been installed and fencing placed around open excavations.

  • When: Ongoing and lasting approximately 2 months
  • Work Hours:  7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday – Friday

Impacts

  • Travel lanes reconfigured with reduced street parking.
  • Increased noise due to construction activity.
  • A lane of travel in each direction will remain.

2023.11 Baker to McCormick

The work will progress and continue along Airway Avenue towards Airport Loop Drive to the Main Street Pump Station.

Project Description

This future project will rehabilitate two parallel regional sewer pipelines, along a 1-mile stretch on Airway Avenue and Airport Loop Drive in the City of Costa Mesa, near the John Wayne Airport. The rehabilitation of the two pipelines must occur one at a time and will take place in separate phases.

Project elements also include improvements at the Main Street Pump Station.  See map below (blue line).
