State College Sewer Construction Update – Week of August 19, 2019
The sewer work keeps moving north. Earlier this month crews moved into the area between La Palma Avenue and the 91 freeway to begin the sewer installation. Take a look at the latest Neighborhood Bulletin and progress map for details.
Ball Road to Vermont Avenue
Sewer installation in this area is almost complete, crews are working hard to finalize the installation prior to the start of the school year. There will be a need to return to this area to put the new sewer in service.
Work hours: Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturday work, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Ball Rd. to Orangewood Avenue – Nightwork
The sewer has been successfully installed in this area. However, occasional night work is still required at various intersections between Ball Road and Orangewood Avenue to complete manhole installations and make lateral connections. Activities will occur as Angel games and Honda Center schedules permits.
Work hours are Monday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m., concluding in winter 2020.
La Palma Ave to SR-91
To help expedite the project, crews have moved into this area to begin the sewer installation work. The City of Anaheim is working in the same area widening La Palma Avenue so we know it’s busy out there. We are working closely with the City to coordinate efforts and minimize impacts. For our project the center median has been excavated in the area where the new sewer will be installed. The medians and landscaping will be replaced at the end of the project.
Sewer installation is scheduled to begin as early as August 12th, and will start with excavation and shoring followed by installation of the pipe. Once this section is complete, crews will move to the area between Underhill Avenue and La Palma. We will be in this area through the end of the year.
Work hours: Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturday work, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The following OCTA bus stops along State College are temporarily closed:
- Northbound: North of La Palma (at McDonalds) – Bus Route 57/57X
- Northbound: North of Romneya and Placentia – Bus Route 57
- Southbound: South of Romneya and Placentia – Bus Route 57

We understand construction can be an inconvenience, we apologize in advance and appreciate your patience as we work to improve our infrastructure.
*Dates are subject to change due to operational factors or inclement weather.
**Once the sewer is fully installed, additional work will be required throughout the sewer alignment to put the sewer in service. Notifications will be made about that work once a schedule is available.

Project Description:
The project is replacing four miles of sewer along State College Boulevard from the SR-91 to Orangewood Avenue in the City of Anaheim. Construction began in summer 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in late 2020. Once the project is complete, eight million gallons of wastewater will be diverted to OCSD’s Plant No. 1 in Fountain Valley for treatment before being send to the Groundwater Replenishment System.  This is Phase B of a two-phase project; Phase A was completed in 2017 and took place from Yorba Linda Blvd. to SR-91 in the City of Fullerton.
