Odor Control Enhancements
About the Project
The Westside Pump Station Enhancements project will include installation of electrical and plumbing utilities, providing the required electrical power and water needed for new infrastructure on the existing Westside Pump Station site. The new infrastructure, an odor dosing station, will be constructed from October 2023 to January 2024. Service will commence in spring 2024 with deliveries of non-hazardous magnesium twice a week. Multiple safeguards are in place to prevent any spills including double insulated tanks. Magnesium hydroxide works by increasing the pH of the treated wastewater, which safely reduces odors.
Location:Â Westside Pump Station at 3112 Yellowtail Drive in Rossmoor
Why Is This Infrastructure Needed?
This project is critical to ensuring OC San’s infrastructure is optimized for odor mitigation across its service area. OC San has an odor control plan for the entire collection system, and this project works as part of an interconnected infrastructure system to ensure operations of this essential service do not create a nuisance to customers.
