The Orange County Sanitation District (OC San) has selected Laura Maravilla as the new Director of Human Resources replacing recently retired Celia Chandler. Ms. Maravilla officially starts her position as the new director on Friday, March 24.
As the new Director of Human Resources, she oversees a staff of 25 human resources and risk management staff. In this role, Ms. Maravilla is responsible for providing human resources management, and ensuring compliance with employment law and regulations. Additionally, she develops and manages programs designed to attract and retain top talent and ensure the safety of OC San’s workforce.
“I know Laura will be a great addition to OC San’s executive management team,” stated Rob Thompson, OC San General Manager. “Laura brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the world of Human Resources and as a long-time OC San employee.”
Previous to her promotion as the Director of Human Resources she served as the Human Resources and Risk Manager where she managed employee and labor relations, recruitment, employee benefits, classification and compensation, workers’ compensation, performance management, and employee development. Additionally, she oversaw all aspects of the department including safety and health programs, security and emergency planning.
Ms. Maravilla is a long-time employee at OC San and has more than 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. She holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University Fullerton, a master’s degree in public administration from California State University Long Beach, and multiple Human Resources certifications.
